Taonga in the Making...

Pūtiki, rawa te kōrero kia karanga tahi ana te taonga…

Knot kōrero together for the Taonga to be heard…

The gift of taonga is a hīkoi for both practitioner and receiver, vesting place, identity and narrative.

Taonga Enquiries

Answers to Frequently Asked Qs

Taonga are authentic and made with quality rākau, Kereama delivers in Te Urewera - Mātaatua stylistic form.

Arohamai, Tā Moko is not available due to rākau whenua capacity and attention to detail required.

Raranga is not outsourced Kereama also weaves, each Taonga is completed with weaved lashing.

Rākau Whenua is sourced locally with mātauranga at the helm and is cared for in Ōwhakatoro (Ruatoki).

During the process Kereama may need to kōrero with the recipient of the Taonga or close relative directly. This can happen online or at the Kāuta in-person before a quote is issued to better understand the recipient & project.

Yes whānau can attend together.

Yes Kereama can confidently communicate in both languages.

No the kōrero and quote are not charged, however please consider the nature of resource & time Kai Whakairo continually give to keep this practise respectably alive.

Depending on the time involved commissioned Taonga may take anywhere between 4 - 8 weeks from enquiry, unless the Taonga is made ready available on this website Hokohoko / Arts Shop for purchase.

Please allow 7 - 14 working days for Aotearoa or International postage & handling.

Costs are determined through volume, time & overheads with 50% deposit being required to source Taonga material.

Unfortunately the deposit cannot be refunded upon agreement due to time and preparation.

All proceeds go toward funding kaupapa at the Kāuta.

Which aims to enable the Mana Motuhake of Ringa Toi within Whānau - Hapū.
